Vermont State Insect

Vermont State Insect(Tri-colored bumblebee: By Calyponte – Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0link.)

Vermont has two official insects, neither one terribly unique. Vermont’s state insect, the honeybee, represents too many states to represent any state (except perhaps Utah). Vermonters named the monarch butterfly their official butterfly. It, too, represents states across the country.

There has been at least one attempt to adopt a native bee, the tri-colored bumblebee.
