Utah State Mammal

Utah’s state animal, the Rocky Mountain elk, recalls its beautiful forested mountains. However, Colorado is represented by the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, an even more famous symbol of the mountains. If Utahns are trying to keep up with Colorado, it might be time to swap horses.

On the other hand, the elk is a better symbol of forests. In fact, elk were once found in forests and grasslands both stretching east to the Atlantic Ocean. Moreover, it’s hard to imagine a North American creature more magnificent in appearance.
