Utah State Insect

Utah State Insect

The honeybee is one of the most popular state symbols. It represents 21 states stretching from Maine westward. And it isn’t even a native species!

The honeybee thus ranks with milk, the square dance, and English as one of the most senseless state symbols. Unless you live in The Beehive State. (Utahns adopted the square dance and English as well.)

Utah is the westernmost state to call the honeybee its state insect. In fact, the honeybee doesn’t even represent any states bordering Utah.
