Pennsylvania State Amphibian

In 2019, the Godzilla of amphibians, the hellbender, was named Pennsylvania’S state amphibian.

Despite its name, the hellbender is harmless. However, some people might consider the slimy creature a little yucky.

Ironically, the hellbender is considered an indicator of water quality. It breathes through its skin, making it a symbol of clear, clean fast-flowing streams.
