The Granite State has two state insects. The two-spot ladybug is the official insect, while the Karner blue butterfly is the official butterfly.

The Melissa blue, as it is also known, is a small butterfly that ranges from eastern Minnesota eastward to the Atlantic coast. It is found in small, isolated colonies in New Hampshire.
