Kansas State Insect

Kansas State Insect

Kansas’ state insect is the introduced honeybee. It’s one of the most boring state symbols, representing far too many states. On the other hand, it boasts Kansas’ unofficial colors, complementing the sunflower.

If I was the Wizard of Oz, I’d replace the honeybee with the Rocky Mountain grasshopper. Most Kansans would probably have a heart attack, but it would be a very educational symbol.
