Idaho State Fruit

Idaho State Fruit

How can a lowly potato compete with a huckleberry?

In fact, Idaho was famously known for its potatoes (now the official state vegetable) long before the huckleberry became the state fruit.

Idaho was reportedly the first state to put a slogan on its license plate. The words “Famous Potatoes” began appearing on Idaho license plates in 1928.

However, huckleberries have one big advantage over potatoes: they aren’t likely to be genetically modified or mass produced, nor are they likely to be grown on land owned by Bill Gates.
