Florida State Bird

Florida State Bird

Florida and Texas were the first states to adopt the mockingbird in 1927. The popular songster ranks with the largemouth bass, alligator, and magnolia as one of the most familiar Southern icons.

Over the years, other birds have been proposed for adoption as the official state bird, game bird, waterfowl, or raptor.
