“Signs and symbols rule the world, not words nor laws.” — Confucius
Welcome to Geobop’s Symbols. A subdomain of Geobop.com, it replaces GeoSymbols, which was long the most popular state symbols site on the Internet. Launched in 2022, this site will go even further.
In fact, the site is smaller than a series of U.S. national and state symbols references that will be published later this year (2022).
Not your usual state symbols site, Geobop’s Symbols is especially designed for critical thinkers. (Why do the media constantly moan about Confederate symbols while ignoring the slave owner on Washington State’s flag, which is far uglier than any flag in the South to boot?)
From national flags to state foods, the mysterious all-seeing eye to the dreaded swastika, you will find plenty of food for thought here. As the world continues to spiral out of control, maybe it’s time we took a closer look at the symbols we cherish, along with those we hate.
“Symbols are powerful because they are the visible signs of invisible realities.” — Saint Augustine
