While several states call the apple their state fruit, few produce more apples than Washington. The Walla Walla sweet onion is the state’s official vegetable.
There’s a fly in the ointment, however—a fly named Bill Gates. Gates virtually owns Seattle, which is Washington’s de facto capital. So, you have to wonder how much of the produce grown in Washington is grown on land owned by Bill Gates. How much of it is genetically modified?
It has also been reported that Wall Street is buying up the water rights in Washington. The days of family farming appear to be numbered.
