New Jersey is nicknamed the Garden State, but it has never been able to adopt an official vegetable. Attempts often end in standoffs between fans of tomatoes, corn, or whatever.
However, the highbush blueberry doesn’t appear to have much competition. It was named the official berry in 2004.
