Maine is nicknamed the Pine Tree State. Its state tree is the eastern white pine, and its state flower is the cone of the eastern white pine.
A pine is even pictured on Maine’s state flag and seal. A pine figured even more prominently on Maine’s original state flag (pictured above), which some Mainers think should replace the current flag.
