Louisianans adopted three edible plants as state symbols.
The strawberry is the official fruit. The creole tomato is the official “vegetable plant.” (Tomatoes are technically fruits, but they are popularly classified as vegetables.)
The sweet potato is Louisiana’s official vegetable.
