Delaware’s state bird is the Blue Hen, which gained fame during the Revolutionary War. The only other state with a chicken as state bird is the only state smaller than Delaware, Rhode Island.
Ironically, it was the fighting cocks that gave the Blue Hen notoriety, not the hens.
