New Mexico’s roadrunner is probably the most familiar avian symbol of the Southwest. However, Arizona’s cactus wren better complements the Copper State’s state flower, the blossom of the saguaro.
The only other state represented by a wren is South Carolina, which chose the Carolina wren.
